Hockey Manitoba has established Grassroots Hockey Grants to support Minor Hockey Associations and Regions with their development and recruitment initiatives at the grassroots level. This predominantly includes the U7, U9 and U11 age categories. Grant applications and initiatives can be focused on player, coach and/or officials development.
WHO CAN APPLY?
All Minor Hockey Associations and Regions or member programs in good standing with Hockey Manitoba are eligible to apply. A maximum of one (1) application per Minor Hockey Association will be considered.
- Applications must be submitted at least 30 days in advance of the initiative
- Applications must be completed in full (including summary budget) and meet funding criteria (below)
- Maximum funding awarded for each application is $1,000
- 50% of the approved grant amount will be forward to applicant in advance of the initiative
- The remaining 50% forwarded upon completion of receipt of a post-event report within 30 days
CRITERIA
Initiatives must meet the following basic criteria to be eligible:
- Initiative must not be part of regular programming (no tournaments, league costs, etc.)
- Initiative focused on development or recruitment of players, coaches and/or officials
- Primary age categories are U7, U9, and U11 - but any age group initiative will be considered
- Applicant must clearly outline purpose/goals of initiative and how it is being supported locally
- Initiative's length and breadth should be robust (ex: long-term program vs. a single-day initiative, how many players benefit, etc.)
- The source and/or foundation of the initiative should be program driven (ex: more emphasis on locally ran programs vs. third-party groups)
- Applicant must recognize Hockey Manitoba's support
EVALUATION/FINAL REPORT
Applicants must submit a summary evaluation and report to Hockey Manitoba to ensure the initiative was conducted in accordance with the application. This will also assist the branch in developing best practices.
